Behind the name
Everett, a city in Washington, was named after the son of Charles Colby, who was part of a group of East Coast capitalists.
During the capitalists deliberations over potential names, Charles' son Everett entered the room, and the city was eventually named in his honor. Interestingly, Everett never resided in the city that bore his name; instead, he lived on the opposite side of the country, in Wisconsin and later New Jersey.
The city of Everett is built upon the ancestral territory and land of the Tulalip Tribes (including the Snohomish people), the Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe, and Stillaguamish Tribe of Indians.
